Would one have to be charged with a crime to enroll in anger management classes?

I have come to the realization that I have a bad problem with controlling my anger, and that I might need help for it. Therapy has done nothing for me, because it only really teaches me to deal with feelings from the past, not feelings that I may feel in the future. When I get angry, I just hit the wall – both metaphorically and sometimes, literally. I’ve done severe damage to things, and minor damage to a few people, due to my anger.

I’ve never had any charges brought against me because of it, and the only people I know who have taken the classes have. My question is, can you enroll in anger management classes even if you’ve never had any kind of charge brought against you because of your anger?

No way would you have to be charged in a crime to enroll in anger management classes. That’s the same as an alcoholic not being able to go to alcohol classes unless they get arrested for drinking and driving.
Check your yellow pages for places that you can go to. Check into it— I’m telling you!

no you wouldnt have to be charged with a crime before being sent to anger management, you should check local listings about anger management around your area and call them for meetings or sign ups

Well that would depend on the anger management class. They have some that are only for court ordered clients,or ones who get referrals from places like mental health, probation, etc… their are a few that may take people in your case, however they may be surprised because most people dont volunteer for these classes.I think it is very smart of you,and you should be proud of yourself for wanting some help.Good luck

Actually you do not have to have a charge to sign up for those types of classes. Usually if its suggested to you by someone or you feel that you can’t control your anger its a great suggestion that you do go and enroll in a course on your own time no charge is required. Look for your local classes, i know someone who has major anger issues and they decided before it hurts them they take classes and currently they are handling their anger just fine. It works so try it.

I am not sure if this answer of mine will help you. But I guess there is no harm in trying.
I would prescribe a different thing.
Why don’t you try reading a book. A book about foods.
It might help get rid of that anger when you tune-in to something new.
That is what I do when am engulfed with rage or anger, I read the book about foods.
The Food Of The Gods.
