I want to leave teaching to do something completely different but want a similar salary. Would like to go into couselling or psychology but put off by years of training.

That’s hard. I am thinking to be a teacher though.

I was a teacher, but I now work with AFLAC. If you like sales, you might be interested… There are a lot of former teachers working with AFLAC! Let me know if you’re interested in more information…

You might find another career that has a similar salary right off the bat, if you’re really lucky. Most positions don’t come easily. You have to start at the bottom and work your way up the corporate ladder. Even if you find a job with similar salary, the trouble would be in finding a job with decent benefits. State employees have job security and good benefits, usually. Ever think of working for city, county, or state jobs?

consider a career as a genetics counselor. The training is about 1-2 years and your history/knowledge/background, etc. in special education can make you more marketable against the brainy-science types. The salary begins in the low 50s.
